Farm Town Hoaxes
It is important to educate yourself about popular Farm Town Hoaxes. Not only can Farm Town Hoaxes cause you frustration they can also help spread havoc on others. Most Farm Town Hoaxes luckily are just funny pranks people have pulled. However there have been a few reports of potentially harmful Farm Town Hoaxes circulating the internet.
One of the most popular types of Farm Town Hoaxes is created from the idea that Farm Town will spread information through viral messaging. Let me explain why this idea is so ridiculous. First of all can’t Farm Town send you notifications once you become a fan of their page? If they can send you notifications when someone works at your farm don’t you think they can also let you know about an important announcement? Of course they can! But when people are first starting out on Farm Town they often fall for this trick. I have to admit I did fall for this trick once when I first started playing the game. Farm Town Hoaxes spread like crazy because new members are always joining and then the hoaxes usually tell you to send a message to a large number of players.
During last November Farm Town Hoaxes were flying around like crazy. In fact on an average day I would receive around five from just my neighbors! The hoaxes usually offered some type of award if you would send some announcement to a large number of people by a certain deadline. For example one might say that your Farm Town Cash would double if you sent a certain announcement to around thirty people. Some of the hoaxes were flat out ridiculous while others were surprisingly believable. Most of the hoaxes used claims that Farm Town was making an announcement and wanted to spread the word to other users.
I have posted some examples of popular Farm Town hoaxes below:
Farm Town has reached one million players. Send this message to 30 people and your Farm Cash will double.
Farm Town has decided that in order to help people earn more Farm Cash they will double your Farm Cash if you send this message to 20 people before November 10.
Etc…..
The funny part is that I began to receive several variations of the same message. The deadline also kept being moved back and I never received any type of award.
Ok let’s look at some facts here. First of all how on Earth would Farm Town know if you sent a certain message to a select amount of people? Even if they had programmed an extremely good system how would they take into account variations of the same message? The answer is it is impossible as of now! Believe me I have learned a thing or two about programming in the last few years! Even Google who literally has a double billion dollar budget has not even found a way to do what Slashkey “apparently can do”.
Ok even if Slashkey set up a system as complex as this why couldn’t they just figure out how to simply send a message to all their members? This would be the real life equivalent of Bill Gates forgetting how to turn on his computer!
I still occasionally receive a Farm Town hoax in my Farm Town Mailbox however for the most part they have come to a stop. I guess people finally realized that the whole thing was a joke when they never received their reward and kept getting variations of the same message. I am glad of this because they were getting annoying and some even threatening.
There were some reports of people receiving messages that if they added a certain person of their buddy list their computer would be hacked. All completely nonsense!
